Pumpkins and Apples

Last night we carved Chase's pumpkin. He was ready to help out, but couldn't resist trying to eat the knife so he had to just watch. (It was just for the picture, and it was plastic...nothing dangerous) He did get a hold of the pumpkin and tried to eat that too. We let him nibble at it for a minute, and it must have been good. More pictures of the carved pumpkin and the costume after tomorrow!

Last Saturday we went to pick apples...it rained. Is anyone surprised? Not us, it always rains. Josh, Jamie and Kaleb went with us, and yes they know about our luck with rain. The best part was there was no line for the apple cider donuts. Chase still had fun. I kept him in the carrier all bundled up under the umbrella. Unfortunately, he was so excited that his feet kept kicking in and out of the rain. His little toes were like ice cubes when we finished. He's all thawed out now, don't worry. I haven't figured out why the picture appeared so small, and I can't seem to fix it. I'll keep working on that one.

A Day of Firsts...

Today Chase got his first pumpkin and his first food. I'm sure you can all guess which one he liked best. Let's just say eating is his most natural talent. He had his first taste of cereal tonight and we are hopeful that it makes him VERY sleepy! He hasn't exactly won any sleeping awards recently. We had to wake him up for the pumpkin pictures as you can probably tell. (Yes, I know I just complained about him not sleeping, but seriously, can you pass up pictures at the pumpkin patch?)I put the middle picture in because I really like the mid-forearm roll that just hasn't gone away yet. He is quite the chunker!

"Vacation"

So, while it was time off of work, an airplane ride, and staying somewhere other than home, we are hesitant to call any trip with a 5 month old a "vacation"! Chase definitely made the trip interesting. All in all he did pretty well considering he was in a different place each time he woke up with someone different holding him. He was well behaved on the plane (even though he came close to losing it a few times!) and he loved riding in the big stroller. We didn't think he would fit in it yet, but we didn't want to take the big one so we gave it a try. His poor feet barely stuck off the seat and the straps went over his ears, but everytime it started moving his feet started kicking. The other picture is Chase with his great-grandma Caddell. She was our first visit, and unfortunately the camera kerplunked after that. We borrowed Kerry's camera to take to Curt and Roshni's wedding, so hopefully we'll have a few more pics soon. It was good to see everyone and eat all of our favorite Cincinnati foods!
