What a Week!

Where to begin...a lot has happened around here in the last 10 days!
This picture is a flashback to Thursday a week ago.  Dave was scheduled for a prostate biopsy.  When he was just ready to be taken back to the operating room, the doctor came out to say that they couldn't get the ultrasound machine to boot up.  However, if we could just drive across town, they could do the procedure at another location.  It wasn't pretty, and it's a good story if you ever want to hear it, but nonetheless I got Dave in the car (as pictured above) and we made it across town and they did the biopsy.  On Monday morning, the doctor called to say it was cancer.  We certainly weren't expecting that.  He offered to meet with us that afternoon, right before Taylor's party!! As a result of that meeting, we met with a surgeon on Tuesday, and then he had a bone scan on Friday.  Long story, short, we found out Friday afternoon that the cancer appears to be contained in the prostate and he will have surgery to have that removed on December 14th. Whew...in the meantime, this is what else was going on...

I had promised the kids a trip to Dave & Buster's on their day off from school Tuesday.  That didn't happen because of a doctor's appointment.  Lucky for them, they got to hang out with Bryce and Emmy and Thomas and Gracie and tag along on their bowling trip.  Thanks to Grace and Barbara for taking them along and for sending pictures!

So we made the Dave & Buster's trip on Wednesday.  Taylor is the luckiest thing!
Chase tries so hard and can't get nearly as lucky as his sister!  It was fun though.
Taylor came down with a fever Thursday night and was stuck home for the day on Friday.  Poor Dave got sent for his bone scan all alone.  He did just fine but it was hard for me to want to be two places at one time!!!
She got to feeling better when she found out that Grandma Caddell and Kerry had just picked up her new PUPPY!
 Introducing Allie Cupcake Caddell.
She's a mini goldendoodle and will be coming to live with us after we pick her up from Cincinnati at Thanksgiving.  She is currently being very, very spoiled so I'm not sure she's going to want to leave!
They also might not let her go!!
Friday afternoon we finally just got to be home and chill!
Chase had the class pet with him this weekend.  He had to photo-document their time together.
Teaching the alligator about football stickers.  Life lessons.
There was some FaceTime with the puppy.
Ready for church this morning in her new boots!
Here's hoping this week might not be quite so eventful :)

Taylor's Birthday Party

Taylor finally decided on a birthday party at Pump It Up.
 Getting their bouncing instructions.
 Let the fun begin!

Happy 6th Birthday Taylor!

After sleeping in a little, thanks to Halloween, she was ready to open some presents before church.  This is the first year on record where she actually SMILED when she opened a gift!
Classic Taylor face. She picked Stevie B's for her birthday lunch.
Another smile!  And boots as tall as she is!

She thinks she's 15 in her new outfit and boots.
We finished off the birthday with a chicken wing dinner!  Her official party is tomorrow!

Halloween

Despite the fact that we wouldn't be home to light our pumpkins, we still had to carve them.
The kids do a little more of the work these days!
Finished products.  Taylor was not a fan of this modified design after her original design didn't make the cut...literally.  We had to improvise!
On Friday, Dave and I went to have lunch with the kids at school for Taylor's birthday.  Chase was almost too cool for that.  When Taylor went back to class he politely figured out a way to get us to leave so he could spend the last 10 minutes chatting with his friends!
She was happier than appears with her birthday cupcake!
Random picture that can't be left out - Chase on "crazy hat day".
Friday night we had the chance to catch up with Melinda briefly as she was passing through town.
Saturday was the last baseball game of the season.  Chase said they won the championship?!?
It was not the last soccer game - still two more to go!  She was wound up because Max (the dog) was there to watch her.
After sports we went up to church to set up for trunk or treat.
Then it was finally time for costumes!
Curious George, The Man with the Yellow Hat, and the Blue Ninja.
 Ready for some candy action.
Our trunk.  The kids are more entertained handing out the candy than getting it!
 Hawaiian hot dog dinner picnic.
Chase and his mummy buddy, Savannah.
Family photo.  It was a fun night.
