The Weekend

The weekend seems like such a distant memory, but since the next one is still just as far away we'll pretend like it was just yesterday! This weekend goes down in the books as a great one for Chase. He got to see his buddy Kaleb on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It doesn't get better than that! Here's the gang on Friday.

Kaleb brought some clothes to pass on to Chase. They dug through them and found some basketball shorts that they had to put on. To say Chase is particular about his clothes would be a major understatement. He was totally irritated that the shorts were "broken" (shorts, not pants) but refused to take them off even though he tried to stretch them down to his ankles every 2 seconds.Saturday was the Faculty-Alumni basketball game at PaPa's school. Yep, PaPa is the tiger. Taylor wasn't quite as thrilled with PaPa the Tiger. She was trying to climb up my neck to get away from him! Watching the game together. Kaleb's dad, Josh, played in the game for the faculty team so they had even more fun cheering him on.

People around here keep talking about VCU basketball these days, but I say when you can watch Josh Smith in action, who needs the Rams, right? Sorry Josh, had to do it. Happy Birthday, by the way.

PaPa bought Chase some lucky raffle tickets and he won a set of tickets to go watch the Flying Squirrels. Here he is going to collect his prize.Good times for Chase!

Best part of the night! They usually get to play at halftime, but this time they had to wait until the very end of the game to get their hands on a ball. They were very patient! (My camera doesn't keep up with action too well!)

Sunday they "watched"some basketball together and ate some cupcakes sporting their favorite VCU colors. When you have 5 kids in the house all 3 and under, you really don't "watch" much of anything for more than a minute and you certainly can't hear anything at all!!! So good he couldn't even look up for the picture!

The Big Green Chair

I have had green chair envy since Dave and I first started dating. His parents had this most comfortable chair in their living room and for years now we've even referred to as my chair. Whenever asked what I would want for my birthday or Christmas I would always respond, "the green chair." Well, after patiently waiting the phone call I've been waiting for finally came! They were getting rid of the chair and wanted to make sure I was ok with that because surely I didn't really want it....um, nope not ok. The chair had to find a way here.Me: "Um, Dave, um could you drive to Cincinnati and pick up the chair."
Dave: "What?"
Me: "Seriously"
Dave: "Seriously?"
Repeat many, many times.

But he made the trip! Major brownie points for that one.
And after waiting my turn, I finally got to sit in the chair in my own living room!!!!

Yay! If you need to find me, check the chair!
See what I mean - it's like they don't even know it's not for them!
The new set-up.

The furniture came with some bonus spring clothes for the kids.
Taylor showing off one of her dresses over her pjs of course.
Chase showing off his new shirt - he calls it his number shirt.

The magical power of the chair put Taylor right to sleep last night. That, or maybe it was that she took a 15 MINUTE nap?!?! Seriously, Dave might have done a bunch of driving over the weekend, but we weren't exactly here snoozing!

Here's a peek at what we did while he was gone:

Waited for him!!

And waited for him some more!!!

Went out for donuts. They make anything better!

Bryce most enjoyed the trip!

Taylor trying to get another reach in the box.

Wish denied. Sad little girl.

Racing in the yard.

Chase is off. Bryce and Taylor are discussing whether or not he left early.

Bryce says, forget it and takes off himself.

Taylor saying "wait for me!!!!"

Bubbles - keeps their attention way longer than it does mine!

Probably did something sneaky judging by the look on his face!

Ahhhhh! Is daddy home yet??
Making a wish for him to hurry up and get home!

Weekend Visit

'Tis the season for visitors - hopefully the warmer weather will tempt out-of-towners to head our direction! We enjoyed a visit with grandparents this past weekend. What better place to take them than to Inflatable Palace!

The kids usually spend more time playing air hockey and basketball than actually jumping on anything inflatable...go figure. We have the exact same basketball hoop at home, but for some reason it's more fun here.

PaPa made it back from his spring break adventure and Taylor was the lucky recipient of the foam finger. She wears it well and thinks it's great for tickling people.

Out for tacos. Chase was really into his.

Here's Taylor, excited that she made enough racket in the restaurant to be taken outside a little earlier than everyone else!

Wagon rides.

Taylor wouldn't get out. She just had to get a new driver every once in a while.

And when she couldn't find another driver, she just pushed it herself.

No visit is complete without a trip to Bass Pro Shop.
Chase picked out a catfish magnet for the fridge as his souvenir.

Yee-haw.

Finally warm enough to make it to the park.

Headed home. Until next time....
