We were off to Cincinnati for a quick trip over the holiday weekend.
It is a long drive for sure, but the kids (and Dave) were so good! It was a fun time!
Packing up the suitcases. Taylor looks completely stressed out about deciding what toys to take!
On the road. Taylor did pretty well.
Chase could probably ride cross-country if you let him eat snacks and watch movies the whole time!
We stopped half way and spent the night on the way there. Chase was thrilled with hotel life. He was most excited about making his own waffle for breakfast and it only got better when we got to eat poolside. Next time we'll actually have to plan time to get in the pool!
Taylor checking out the rocking chairs on the hotel front porch.
The weather went from cold when we got there to rather hot before we left - you'll notice the change in attire (except for me, I didn't pack too well for myself) One of our first stops was putt-putt!
Putt-putt horseshoes...only in Kentucky.
Taylor will not let Chase do one thing without her!
Dinner with the family. It was our first try separating girls and boys....
This is what happens at the boys table - too much fun for Chase!
Cousin Ben and Aunt Glenna with a tired Taylor!
and
Taylor and Chase checking out Cousin Jacob's cool game!
And the always popular stop at the mall to play and throw pennies in the fountain.
This time they got treated to Build-A-Bear for the first time. Taylor jumped right in to put the heart in her bear. Chase wasn't too fond of the fluff machine, not surprising!
He was more excited about the finished product! He named his "Joey" after a Reds player and he named Taylor's "Sissy" for her.
We did manage to squeeze in a couple of hours visiting with the Seybolds. They are back from Germany, living in Cincinnati now. We hadn't seen them in nearly 4 years, so there were some new introductions for all of us! Taylor and Noelle are just a few months apart - Noelle kept trying to sneak Taylor's paci, but you know she wasn't letting that happen!
Chase, Noelle, Fiona and Taylor all obviously thrilled about the group shot!
Chase's first date at Skyline.
Good-bye hugs, too cute.
The gang, minus photographer Dave, at Skyline.
I won't admit how many cheese coneys we consumed in one weekend!
Next stop: graduation party for Kerry and Megan. The chocolate fountain was a favorite hang-out!
Playing cornhole with Grandpa and splashing water out of the fountain.
After Chase played catch, you know Taylor had to get her turn in.
I have no idea what was happening here, but I love the expressions.
Taylor getting into her mac-and-cheese - genetic trait passed down through Megan and Kerry. Never seen people that can eat as much pasta as that trio!
Chase and his first crush, or rather crushes. He is absolutely in love with Kerry and her friends. When I took him up to bed during the party he said to me "Maybe I could go give Kerry's friends a hug before I go to bed." He talks about them atleast 10 times a day and is convinced that they are coming over to play any minute now.
Finally, relaxing on the ride home. Chase and Taylor were handed down a costume collection before we left and he picked out this clown costume and would not take it off. He wore it the first 4 hours in the car and I finally made him take it off to go to the bathroom at our first stop.
