Easter to Memorial Day

Wowsers. Actually, this information shouldn't shock me any longer.  It's been a long time since my last post but I knew that.  It's just that a ton of things have happened.  Lots to catch up on.....here we go!
Despite the fact that Easter had passed, the kids still wanted to dye eggs.
I got to go on a field trip with Chase's class to the New Kent Forestry center.  45 minute school bus ride that finished up on a mile-long gravel road.  Fun. Also, 3rd grade boys no longer enjoy a photo op.  Pictures are limited!
 Caught him having fun!
 Tree research in progress.
 Just one smile, please?!?
 No mas.
The very next day, I got to go with Taylor's class to the Metro Richmond Zoo.  1 hour bus ride with first graders.  Fun.
The giraffes ate well on this day for sure.
She was able to make her cup of food last the whole way around the zoo.  Even helped fill up her friend's cup several times after she would over-feed every animal we saw!

Unlike 3rd grade boys, 1st grade girls LOVE a photo op.
She would stop and smile by every animal.

"Napping" on the way back to school.
We have spent most of our time recently bouncing between the softball and baseball fields.  Taylor got to be catcher for the first time.
There wasn't much catching going on but she looked the part well!
Field Day 2017 - perfect weather for some outdoor fun.

The kids get paired up with a classmate and they have to stay with their buddy to complete all of the activities.
This girl has a competitive side that she did not get from me.  Caught her trying to cut a corner a time or two!

Hanging out with her cousin Sarah.
Chase with his buddy.  I was working a station during his field day time so not so many pictures of him. He was ok with that!
Hanging out with cousin Hannah.  I had to get her to drag him over for a picture!
Shooting hoops. I was station 2.
 Our favorite substitute teacher!
Cleaning up the yard at Grandmama's house.  Emmy is giving me the look!!
 Dave stuck on the roof!
The cleaning quickly turned to playing!
No telling what Chase just did to make Bryce laugh like that.  It's always something!
Little league opening day.  I thought I was in a good spot for getting pictures but not so much.  You can spy Dave and Chase in here somewhere.
And Taylor is in here somewhere!

 Allie is clearly exhausted.
Chase, on the other hand, never gets exhausted.  After a baseball game and opening ceremonies, he decided to stay and watch his buddies play and ended up keeping score.
Then, as if that wasn't enough, he stayed for another game and got to be a substitute player.
Meanwhile, Wild Child and I were shopping!  Too bad this wasn't her size!
These three amigos are Chase's best fans at his travel ball games.

They watch at least a little baseball!

The rest of the cheering squad.
 A second-place finish - doesn't he look thrilled!

These two showing off their matching flip-flops.
With Dave's lighter schedule, we have time for things like putt-putt in the afternoons.
The scorekeeper.  She's competitive at that too.  4=2, 5=2, for her at least

Knock on wood, the dog is behaving better and better each day.  She is a little spoiled.
Lunch at school.  Picture of the girls.  No picture of the boys.
I still enjoy power washing in my spare time!
Taylor has brought home some good papers.  This is one of my favorites.
Back at the ball field.  The concession stand enjoys our support!
 The ballpark posse.
As if we're not at a ballpark enough anyways, we've been to a few Flying Squirrels games this year too.
Kind of hard to see but there's a rainbow that stretches from one side of the outfield to the other.
 Gloves ready in these seats!!
Back at the ball field!  Luckily, Taylor can always find a friend or two to hang out with.
It's not always warm at the ball field!
We did FaceTime with Etta while she opened her birthday present from us.  She loved it?!?! To her credit, it was late and the car has eyes!
 Another STORM victory.
 A victory for me!!!
Hanging out with her furry friend.
 Chase celebrated his 9th birthday!!!

The day of Chase's birthday, Taylor had a publishing party at school.  Each kid had written a book and they shared it with their friends and family that came.  We got to "adopt" a couple of extra authors!
Taylor sharing her story, The Sunglasses!
 With their teacher, Mrs. Hile.

He looks as excited about this as Etta did with her car!
We picked him up from school early and took him to lunch at Mr. Submarine!
I think he picked Mr. Submarine because Gelati Celesti was on the way home!
 Birthday party time!
MeMa stopped by the party and picked up the sisters.  That may have been his best gift!

 The gang arrived!  Getting instructions!
Checking out the arsenal of nerf guns!
 Ready for battle.

Cake time!  The pizza disappeared too fast for a picture!
Personal space did not exist at this party!

 Moving on to laser tag!
 Loaded up!

The girls returned and enjoyed the massage chairs until the party was over!
Back at home, the NERF fun continues.
Even Taylor got in on the action.
We did a family birthday celebration and Mother's Day cookout at our house.

Dave sucking up to his mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law!
 MeMa firing fastballs at Chase!
After the cookout, we took Grandma and Grandpa Edwards for a walk by the river.
Chase tried to climb a tree.  Not his thing.
 Finally figured it out!

Etta turned one!  Happy Birthday to her!
While Chase and Dave went to Kaleb's birthday party at the ball game, I took Kathryn and Taylor to the school picnic and auction.
Last year, we bought raffle tickets but then didn't get back in time to hear the numbers called.  Taylor was not going to miss it this year.
They were so funny to watch.  In the end though, no raffle prizes for us!
Luckily, we were a little too fortunate with our silent auction bids!
Back at the ball field.  All wrapped up!
We're getting ready for Vacation Bible School at church!
Allie got to go out on the town!
We took her to Bark in the Park night at the Flying Squirrels game.
One happy girl, one happy dog and Max.  He wasn't thrilled to be there.

 Doggy heaven.
Looks like her tongue could fall out.

Taylor came home with this note from school the other day. Dave was not thrilled.
 Still worn out!
We were planning to leave town this afternoon but plans changed.  I still picked the kids up from school early so we made the most of it and went to see the butterflies at Lewis Ginter.  You have to look close to find one!

Taylor was all about the photo-op!

 Finally over the photo-op!
