Making the Most of It
It's hard to believe that our summer fun is almost over. Typically, the end of summer doesn't mean too much but this year it means school! I'm not ready for it but that doesn't seem to stop it. We decided to just have fun this week and worry with the chores later - this is much different than what we usually do ;)
I usually stopped just past the goats for fear of having to carry multiple children back up the giant hills! I'm pretty sure this was the first time I've ever been there with only 2 kids under my watch.
Chase soaring like an eagle.
Taylor doing what she does best. Heaven help me if I hadn't had the stroller that day!
Photo stop.
Waterfalls, who knew!
Bridges, gardens, fish - Chase wondered why I'd been holding out on him all this time!
Trying to keep up with the boys!
We made it across these stones and I'm fairly sure we'd have barely gotten our ankles wet if we fell off but it still was a bit much for me! The fish were bigger than Emmy.
Feeding the fish some leftover Subway. This is probably frowned upon, but it's the last week of summer and we're having fun.
See what I mean, the fish are bigger than the kids. Creepy.
The walk back. The boys had a bit more energy than the girls by this point!
Taking advantage of the bear photo stop on her own terms.
We also checked out Pump It Up. It was everything the kids hoped it would be!
Good times.
Taylor is hoping for a Pump It Up birthday party now.
Wild child. This was supposed to be a group photo.
McDonalds picnic - I told you we left no fun unfound!
Swimming or rather jumping in over and over and over in Sandy and Ned's pool.
It was in and out and repeat. They loved it!
The girls did a little light swimming and then it was snacks and sunbathing.
Don't remember what was going on for this picture.
MeMa took all the kids fishing. I am not allowed on fishing trips because I ruin all the fun.
Sunbathing some more, in the shade.
I think you know what's about to happen here.
It's all payback for what happened here!
We even took a trip to school with MeMa just for fun. Speaking of school, we're headed to meet Chase's teacher in a few minutes. Wish me luck, I'm not ready!

Life Beyond Vacation
Still a little bummed that vacation season has ended, but life goes on! We've had plenty of fun at home. This is out of order, as usual!
Taylor got to doggie-sit this past weekend. She was loving it.
Max was terrified!
And rightfully so! He is wearing a matching hair bow!
He was never bored though!
And sometimes he seemed to enjoy her extra attention.
We went to see a high school football scrimmage. One of our neighbors plays and after the game Chase went over to his house and got to try on his equipment. Dave has that picture!
We've done some school supply shopping. There was a small victory when Michael Jordan saved me from having to by the evil looking superhero backpack!
We joined our friends at church for a little post-storm clean up.
Taylor and Emmy got to have a girls afternoon at our house.
Taylor's tote bag for preschool came in the mail. She was bummed that she doesn't get to pick out a backpack - not sure why they prefer totes?! - but she was happy with her bag.
Some serious coloring going on at Willow Lawn.
Not a single person was interested in this picture!
We checked out the Redskins training camp. Chase gave it a hesitant thumbs up!
It was a good time. The kids asked about 10 minutes after practice started when they were going to start playing....they weren't impressed!
They did enjoy the picnic part.
Thank you Willow Lawn for the beautiful glasses to complete this picture!
Favorite part was the football toss. Chase actually got one in. This didn't make his sister happy because he got a necklace and she didn't!
RG3 - Far right, yellow jersey.
The girls watched less football than the boys.
That's not saying much! But they had fun!
Back at home they set up a restaurant, complete with drive-thru. Emmy was the cashier.
She took her role seriously. It was a crack up.
Emmy moved back to cooking and Taylor took over the register.
Good times.
Watching the bug box and waiting for the bug to escape.
They stick together.
And Emmy thinks she is just as big as they are!
Taylor had fun having real "babies" to push around in her stroller.
The kids had a "splash" event at church last weekend. The water slide was giant.
The kids all made it to the top, but Chase and Bryce were the only ones that made it down! Taylor realized once she got to the top that it was a bad idea!
Dave had the most fun!
And chasing each other with squirt bottles.
The slide was constantly busy - you think they'd have realized their feet were at the bottom before they even started!
Last night there was an impromptu costume party and Bryce requested a picture be taken!
Finally, brace yourself for this self-portrait. There is always a surprise picture or two on my camera and Taylor really got me with this one. I about died laughing. And I worry about her!
