The Fair

We made the annual trip to the state fair over the weekend.  Chase had been asking to go since the first day it opened.  Apparently the fair is a hot ticket for first graders.
My poor mom is still moving pretty slow, so she decided to rest her legs and stay home. We had the responsibility of take PaPa along with us.  Right from the start he was trouble.
Whatever he does, the rest of them do.
 And ask for a picture.
 And another picture.
They were happy to take advantage of every photo op.  My mom asked me to take plenty of pictures, and well...you're warned....there's a lot!
Who knows why he wanted his picture taken in front of the turkeys?!?
Taylor, Bryce and Emmy took pony rides.  I'm pretty sure these people make an entire year's salary during the fair.  $7 for a two-lap, two-minute ride.
But yet worth every penny!  Maybe I should get a pony?
Chase decided a beverage break was more tempting than a pony ride.
 Go big or go home.
Like I said, lots of photo ops...

While he did not get his competitive nature from me, he probably did get my sense of adventure.  He was clearly too big for this ride but it was just his speed!
Looks like the girls are giving him the stare down too!
My favorite of their many choices.

Can't leave the fair without prizes.
He was seriously worried about riding these little cars.
Turns out it might have been fun!
These two have no such fear!

This is when you really hope the fair rides are safe!

Wouldn't even try the "crazy bus" even though Emmy hopped right on!
Chase had to have his lawyer argue his case to get on this ride.  The lady turned him away because he was barely too tall.  The winning argument was "what do you want me to do, give him a haircut right here?"  She thought better of it and let him ride.

 Trying to win a goldfish!
Realized I could get a better picture from the other side.
Bryce won a fish on his first throw!  We were the lucky recipients of said fish and promptly named him "Bryce" - as of this evening he is still swimming!!
Dave had to stop for a moment of silence with Secretariat's grandson.
And finally, we got to the food!  Pumpkin funnel cake with cream cheese icing was my personal favorite.
 It was a good time!
And yes, of course we all left with souvenirs!
