Chase was supposed to go to the pumpkin patch on his first kindergarten field trip last Friday. I was supposed to go too. But it rained (and rained and rained and rained.) so it got cancelled and moved to Oct. 25 - but we will be in Cincinnati for THE wedding. So this weekend we took a field trip of our own (in the rain)!
It was really more of a mist than hard rain, but the pumpkin patch was plenty muddy. I just kept thinking how much better it turned out to be there as a family field trip instead of with 100 muddy kindergartners on a school bus!
Our friendly ghost.
Dave and his mom.
The happy kindergartener - he didn't seem to mind that his trip got changed up!
Out on the search for the perfect pumpkin.
There were plenty of choices.
Making a big decision.
A little wildlife I found.
Still searching. We could leave no perfect pumpkin behind!
All the while I was convinced the sky would open up at any minute!!
Taylor saw no need for the rain jacket.
Feeling sorry for the poor green pumpkin.
Decisions were made and we toted them back to the wagon.
The happy pumpkin pickers.
Sticking close to daddy because he accepted all the pumpkins they picked out!
Which was fine because he had to carry them. All you could carry for $20, I'd say we got our money's worth!
Headed home.
My view from the backseat. Taylor was "really, really chilly" and thought a kid hot chocolate from Starbucks was just the answer. Luckily, daddy was driving :)
More pictures from our soggy weekend coming soon.
